Without doubt, Diesel engines offer maximum efficiency and, therefore, the lowest fuel consumption of all vessel propulsion systems, which positively effects the emission of the greenhouse-gas carbon dioxide. With regard to emission behaviour, principle-related hurdles must, however, still be taken.
