04.06.2003 - In January 1994, MAN Turbo was awarded an order to supply a complete module for an air separation plant in the USA. The module comprises a centrifugal compressor for oxygen compression, an asynchronous motor, coolers, pipes, process elements and firewalls and was handed over to the customer as a complete system.
The plant was brought successfully into operation in 1995 following a short erection and commissioning period.

Oxygen, nitrogen, argon and other gases are used for processing purposes in various branches of industry, such as chemicals and petrochemicals, the iron and steel industry, food technology and medical technology. The components of air are separated in a low-temperature column. Highly efficient air, nitrogen and oxygen compressors are required for this process, to keep the high level of energy consumption to a minimum.

The sturdy single-shaft design of the compressor guarantees a high level of reliability and operating safety. The vertically split compressor is rated for a high discharge pressure, while the use of interstage cooling, featuring external coolers, also ensures a high level of efficiency of the compressor.
