22.05.2003 - Concrete or steel vessel separator
The water separator prevents the ingress of water into the blower and thus prevents damage to the impellers. It normally consists of one or more chambers of concrete or stainless steel. Each separator chamber is linked to a blower stage and provided with an access aperture for cleaning purposes. The water that collects in each separator is evacuated by means of extraction pumps. The water level of each separator is monitored by a level switch.

Tube or cyclone separator
The water aspirated together with the air must be removed before it reaches the blower to protect the blower against damage. This is achieved by integrating water separators into the suction lines. The water is separated for the most part in two stages. The majority of the water is separated from the air in the main or preseparator. The main separators are constructed as gravity separators or as normal separators. In the second stage, the finer water droplets are removed in the droplet or post-separator. The droplet or post-separators are constructed as centrifugal separators or as normal separators. The water removed is routed either to the waste water basin or to the normal or main separator.

The water separators have been developed for dewatering the air removed by vacuum from the paper, cardboard, tissue and cellulose machines. They are characterised by their capacity for flexible adaptation to the different production grades and production rates.
